Embrace Balance, This January
Slow January.
As the new year unfolds, we’re embracing a slower start, taking time to connect with nature and savour the stillness of January. In the vineyard, our team is making the most of crisp, sunny winter days to begin pruning, whilst in the winery, wines resting in tanks and barrels are getting their first check-ins of 2025. Our Tasting Room is taking a little pause and will reopen on Thursday 16th January. That weekend, we’ll welcome you back with tours, tastings, an updated winter menu, and our first Sunday roast of the year.
January is a time for setting down foundations for the year ahead. It’s a time of reflection and resolution, of what to continue and what to leave behind. This is true of activity in the vineyard. Pruning sets out the year: it’s the very beginning of a wines journey. The way the vine is pruned determines how much fruit it carries and its chances of success. So too do we ‘prune’ ourselves in January; we reflect and resolve, strive to change and grow, decide what to continue and what to leave behind. ‘New year, new me’ is perhaps too severe, maybe instead we should strive for a gentle refinement of habits, prioritising adding over restriction, laying the groundwork so our year bears fruit.
With this in mind, this month, we’re bringing you opportunities to nourish both body and mind – whether that’s exploring the art of winemaking on a tour, crafting something beautiful with your hands, or seeking out a wine you’ve never tried before.

Talks at Artelium
New for 2025, we’re introducing a series of monthly cultural talks and Q&As called ‘An Evening with...’ Limited to 30 tickets, these intimate evening talks will be with experts in the fields of wine, art and nature. Inspired by the idea of ‘The Salon’ these talks aim to inspire and generate conversation, giving audience members the opportunity to ask their own questions and engage in direct conversation with the guests.
The first talk of the year will be with Artelium alumnus Sarah Emily Porter on Wednesday 29th January from 6-9 pm. This Q&A will touch on Sarah’s label designs for the very first range of Artefact Wines, her recent solo show at the Barbican Centre and her line of sculptural interior pieces ‘Porter & Trundle’ lauded and loved by all the top interiors mags, including Elle Decoration and Wallpaper*. The evening will begin with a delicious glass of Artelium wine, which will be included in all talk tickets throughout the year.
