ABOUT THE LABEL
Artist: Walter Bailey
The three label designs are from woodblock prints inspired by the drawn designs for the ‘Wood, Earth, Hoop’ sculpture by Bailey. The sculpture was installed in our Streat vineyard in May 2024 as part of Bailey’s solo show at the estate, which explored how life and landscape interconnect. The hoop is made from segments of pruned and storm-felled oak branches which were then charred, resonant of the high-toast oak barrels used for the fermentation and ageing of the wine.
Once this limited-release wine has sold through, the sculpture will remain as an Artefact of this unique wine. Learn more about our Artefact wines.

Bright pink-grapefruit colour gives way to notes of ripe cherry, savoury citrus, tangerine peel and pipe tobacco.
The palate has a pronounced structure, defined by a natural freshness and gentle tannic grip. Rich toasted oak resonates with the charred wood depicted in the label. A long and memorable finish.

A great wine to be savoured on it’s own, but also robust enough to feature alongside heartier flavours.
Ideal with slow-roasted game, but also earthier vegetables like artichoke hearts in virgin olive oils and Porchini mushrooms with parmesan.
The freshness of the wine cuts through fats and cleanses the palate, while elevate notes and concentrated flavour tingle the senses.

A vintage of extremes. Some areas experienced significant frosts in Spring, which quickly gave way to a long, warm, very dry Summer – the joint hottest on record since 1884.
Young vines struggled with the heat and resulting water stress. Significantly reducing yields, if any fruit was taken at all. More mature plantings fared better. Chardonnay ripened early, often being picked earlier than Pinot Noir and Meunier, which is rare. Artelium picked a good quantity of ripe, high-quality fruit from both East and West sites. Yields were lower than anticipated, but quality was high with good aromatic development and sugars, whilst retaining fresh acidity.
