Wild Grass Basket Weaving - Friday 28th March

£120.00

Friday 28th March, 13.30 - 17.30

Join Ruby Taylor from Native Hands and create your very own woven basket. This workshop will be an introduction to making baskets from wild grasses (harvested by Ruby last summer), using the coiling technique. The small basket you make will be sturdy and fragrant, perfect for keeping precious items in. Suitable for all levels.

All materials will be provided. Please wear warm clothes as this workshop will be held outside or in Artelium’s barn.

The workshop will be followed by a delicious supper and glass of Artelium wine.

This workshop is part of the ‘Festival of Making’ week, which kicks off with a Spring Makers Market on the 22nd March followed by a week of creative workshops running from the 24th - 28th March.

Ruby’s practice is materials-led; she is concerned with origins and connection and the immersive, sensory experience of making; inspired by the dialogue that emerges between the maker’s hands and the materials. Immersed in the whole cycle of production: harvesting from the land in a sustainable and respectful way, processing the raw materials, creating sculptural and functional pieces.

An author, maker and trained educator with over 30 years’ experience, Ruby regularly runs Wild Basketry and Wild Pottery courses as Native Hands in Sussex woodland.
