Wine Walks: Winter
What better way to spend a crisp winter’s day than with a walk through the glorious Sussex countryside and a glass of wine by the fire in the Artelium tasting room…
STREAT CHURCH CIRCULAR (Approx. 1 hour / Muddy)
This short circular walk starts and ends at the Artelium estate. Please keep dogs on a lead as there are often sheep in fields surrounding the footpaths.
Turn right out of the Artelium driveway, heading south down Streat Lane.
Just before you reach the railway bridge, turn left down a roughly paved road (between Shergolds and Stoneheald). Continue along that road until you reach a bridleway in front of Shergolds Farm.
Turn right through the gate and down the wide gallops. At the bottom is a stream.
Go through the gate and cross the footbridge over the stream and through the railway tunnel.
Carry on along until you reach the footpath/bridleway crossroads. Turn left, through the hedges and then right along the footpath heading towards a copse.
Follow the footpath through the fields until you reach a road called “The Ridge” at the corner of Streat Lane. Cross over towards the church and follow the footpath alongside the left of the church overlooking the graveyard.
Continue along this footpath until you reach the farm at the end.
Turn right along the roadway and continue North up the footpath until you reach a stream. Beyond the stream is a railway arch, go under this and on the other side you will see the Artelium vineyard on your left. Walk up the footpath until you reach a signposted entrance to the tasting room. Follow the path through two gates and you will reach the car park and Tasting Room
Looking to enjoy a tasting or glass of fizz after your walk? Check our opening times here – Muddy boots (and paws) welcome in the Tasting Room.
