Blackberry and black cherry on the nose, red berry fruits too and subtle musky perfume.
There is gentle baking spice character, reminiscent of demerara sugar – but not sweet! The palate is medium bodied, filled with concentrated berries and baked citrus.
Despite it’s extensive time on lees, the autolysis sits gently, giving elegant texture and pastry on finish. A clean, rich finish.

It was an exceptional start to the year for Sussex vineyards, marked by minimal frost and optimal flowering conditions. Vineyard management was crucial in bringing the fruit through a wet and cooler August, into warmer temperatures in September and October.
The grapes had good levels of acidity from the cooler August, with our Blanc de Noir 2014 still revealing a refreshing side despite its age. A long hang time until harvest, however, ensured the fruit ripened. The Pinot Noir and Meunier developed delicious red fruit characteristics which are still showcased in the sparkling wines from that vintage.

Fine charcuterie, light meats and in-season game such as duck, pheasant or partridge work fantastically here.
The wine can accommodate richer, fuller-flavoured dishes than often expected. Also great with mushroom dishes with pastry, or umami-rich dishes such as Miso Cod.
