Christmas Cocktails, Artelium-style

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas and with it the season for hosting. Here are a few of our favourite festive cocktail recipes to help you and your guests get into the mood.

Artelium Winter Negroni Recipe

For a classic Negroni cocktail all you need is balance: use equal parts gin, vermouth and amaro. For our take, use Artelium’s Collaborators Dry Gin and Vermouth along with English no-alcoholic amaro Wilfred’s.

The addition of Wilfred’s 0% instead of a traditional amaro (such as Campari) dials down the alcohol in this classic cocktail but sacrifices none of the flavour – studded with notes of clove, rosemary and orange it's the perfect foil for the festive season.

Our Collaborators English Vermouth adds an extra layer of sweetly scented fruit to this Christmas concoction. Best swirled and sipped by the fire.

METHOD

  1. Pour the gin, vermouth and amaro into a mixing glass or jug filled with ice.

  2. Using a bar spoon (or normal spoon) gently stir the liquid until the glass feels cold to touch or condensation forms on the outside.

  3. Strain into a tumbler either full of ice cubes or with one large cube.

  4. Garnish with a slice of orange or a sprig of rosemary – enjoy!

INGREDIENTS

25ml Artelium Collaborators Gin

25ml Artelium Collaborators Vermouth

25ml Wilfred’s 0% Amaro

Champagne Cocktail Recipe

We love this classic cocktail but with Sussex Sparkling, with the freshness of our fizz beautifully poised against the richer notes from the brandy. Alternative serve: If, like Hannah you prefer your Champagne cocktail on the drier side, swap the sugar cube out for a half teaspoon of granulated sugar instead.

METHOD

  1. Put your sugar cube on a small plate, soak with the bitters until fully coated.

  2. Drop the cube into a champagne flute, then pour over the brandy.

  3. Slowly pour in the sparkling wine – watch out for it fizzing up!

  4. Twist the orange peel over to express the oils, then discard (you don’t want the peel floating around in your flute!)

INGREDIENTS

One Sugar Cube

¼ tsp Angostura Bitters

10ml Artelium Collaborators Brandy

Artelium Curator’s Cuvee 2018

Strip of orange peel

Festive Gin & tonic garnished with Orange & Rosemary

Spruce up your Gin and Tonic with a festive flourish of Orange and Rosemary.

METHOD

  1. Add a splash of Artelium Collaborators Gin over ice

  2. Squeeze a slice of Orange and add, before topping up with tonic

  3. Stir with a sprig of Rosemary, being sure to rub the rim of the glass

Our Collaborators Gin in made with a base spirit distilled from out Sussex wines.

Because our artisan Gin has not been filtered, botanical oils remain in the spirit after distillation. These oils turn the Gin cloudy when it is cold.

INGREDIENTS

35ml (or 50ml for a double) Artelium Collaborators Gin

150ml Premium Tonic

Serve over ice

Alternative serve: Mark’s favourite way of enjoying Collaborators Gin is in a tulip wine glass, with gin and tonic crisply chilled and approx one part gin to two parts tonic. Drink it as a wine, with no ice and lemon to make the most of the botanical aromatics.
