Artelium is an artisan English wine producer nestled in the heart of the Sussex countryside. Founded by Julie Bretland and Mark Collins, our estate is the realisation of a shared dream: to create exceptional wines, exhibit contemporary art & craft — and to celebrate the people and stories behind them.

A Vision Brought to Life

From the beginning, Artelium was about more than winemaking. Julie and Mark set out to build a place where creativity, craftsmanship and collaboration come together. Inspired by the vibrant South Downs landscape and the growing prestige of English wine, the couple partnered with celebrated winemakers Dermot Sugrue and Owen Elias to bring their vision to life.

England is an emerging wine region; we are not restricted by the rules and regulations that govern the Old World. At Artelium, we welcome this freedom and see each vintage as an opportunity to create pioneering styles of wine that will shape the future of the industry.

We do this by honouring the skills and creativity of our winemakers, giving them the tools and freedom they need to express themselves and make unique vintage wines. We grow classic grape varieties such as Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier on our estate, producing elegant sparkling and still wines that reflect the unique terroir of Sussex. Every bottle is crafted with care, from vine to glass.

At Artelium, we believe in slowing down and savouring what matters. Our name blends art and ium — Latin for "a place to congregate" — reflecting our philosophy of crafting a space for people to come together and enjoy wine and art in a beautiful natural setting.

We are proud to be more than just a Sussex vineyard. Artelium is a destination for culture, conversation and connection. Throughout the year, we host a diverse programme of art exhibitions, expert-led wine talks, craft workshops and creative events that bring our community together. From vineyard sculpture trails and collaborations with local artists, to guided tastings with winemakers and seasonal feasts featuring local producers, each experience is designed to spark curiosity and celebrate craftsmanship in all its forms.
